Why Somatics?

Somatic work harnesses the resources of the body to move beyond outmoded, calcified habits and find answers to the questions and dilemmas of our lives.

A defended body shuts out life. This might make us feel protected, but over time these defenses shut out what we long for. Our histories become lodged in our bodies. A tight jaw can hold back the words we need to say. A contracted chest can literally diminish our capacity to breathe and experience love, leaving us feeling only half-alive. A hunched-over posture communicates that we’re unavailable or shut down. In turn, from inside this contracted body-shape the world can look hostile, dangerous, or lonely. Through somatic work you can unwind deep armoring and loosen contraction.

An open, breath-filled body brings us here. Waking up to our own sensations makes action possible. We are our muscles. Deep inside us—inside our cells—we find purpose. We find ourselves.

Why Coaching?

Coaching, at its best, is like being given an aerial view of the maze that is your life. You are suddenly not just looking at walls—but are given perspective. You recognize open pathways, as well as dead-ends. Coaching creates a blueprint of new practices and actions—to chart your way around old places of impasse, through challenges, aiming you solidly towards what you long for and who you want to be.

Why Depth Hypnosis?

Often, in the midst of some great confusion, challenge, or doubt, we unexpectedly experience a sense of knowing or wisdom that seems deeper than our conscious minds. Depth hypnosis is about being able to reliably drop below our anxious or restless thoughts and to consistently tap into this deep place of knowing, guidance, metaphor, and myth.

Together We’ll:

  • Create a coaching plan that maps out a course of action.
  • Design practices that incrementally pare away habits that have kept you away from your goal and replace them with practices that move you towards what you want.
  • Use setbacks and challenges as moments of deep learning and curiosity.
  • Engage in experiential movement exercises to shift old patterns in your body and enable you to take new actions.
  • Use bodywork to soften contractions and remove blocks.
